Get 16,000 Woodworking plans?

Get 16,000 woodworking plans for $49.99. Sounds too good to be true doesn’t it.  When I started out (about 2009) on my wood working journey I came across “Ted’s Woodworking” and various other names they use.  I was tempted at first to buy the dvd to help me continue my journey in woodworking. However warning bells started to ring for various reasons like:

  • Started to sound too good to be true.
  • Where did one guy get 16,000+ plans from?
  • There seemed to be too many sites that were very similar and too many that just linked to Ted’s Woodworking.

Ted’s woodworking is a scam

So I decided no… and I am glad I didn’t because it is a scam. Now if you do buy the plans, you will get something for your money however, the issue is these plans you get are stolen and a lot of them you can get for free or for a pretty low cost from the actual woodworker who designed them. Which means if you have any issues with the plans you can ask the designer for help.  Also by buying directly from the designer you are directly supporting the actual woodworker and creative mind behind the plans however;

This affiliate marketing scheme “Ted’s Woodworking” does not give anything back to the woodworker who designed the plans, and therefore these plans are pirated and stolen. Just because the plans are free on the internet does not make them copyright free and it is illegal to resell them under international law..

Ted’s Woodworking is nothing more than a collection of hobbled-together plans from a different woodworking sites. Many are copied and pirated from copyrighted material, others are incomplete plans from magazines from the 60s and ’70s. It is also important to note that there is no “Ted Magrath” the woodworker, though people have tried to identify who is at the head of this multi-level marketing scam. The “video instructions” are simply links to YouTube videos. Clickbank who handles all these transactions refuses to shut it down. Which tells me that ClickBank is in on it.

I didn’t take much for me to learn this, I even quickly explain this in my FAQ’s. Then Steve Ramsey from Woodworking for Mere Mortals made a series of video’s and dug a little deeper and found that the rabbit hole was deep involving Clickbank and various other sources.

I have now stopped about 3 people I know from buying and informed many others when they point these sites out to me…

Other Sites

There are various sites now with different names but all link to Ted’s woodworking and all these sites are using the same templates that simply look the same and are offering the same thing. It probably and is most likely an affiliate site of the same scam.

There are also other sites out there that claim to have free plans these are simply link sites and most of these sites link to the original content. While I don’t have an issue with these sites as such as they don’t ask for money but if they started to ask for money I would have a huge issue with it.

Just remember the age old saying “If it looks to good to be true, it usually is”

Known variants of the scam

  • Tedswoodworking.com
  • woodworking4home.com
  • woodprofits.com
  • The name continually changes.

There are many review sites out there saying it is not a scam etc… but when you read most of them they are all saying the same thing written from a template which tells me they are part of the scam it self.
