2017 – Dune and Dusted.

I was going to do a year in review like have done in the past but decided to just write an article instead… 2017 was full of highs and lows and has been busy, but slow. The channel has had very slow growth this year and I appear to be stuck in a slump. As of time of writing this article I have 3322 subscribers. A total of 242,716 Views over 119 videos.

I uploaded a total of 38 Videos for the year of 2017 with a mix of project and other interesting videos. I tried to have fun doing it.

26 Project videos (2 projects were multi part ie; Craft room and steam punk rifle)
5 Talky talk videos
1 Tool unboxing
3 How do it videos (ie; How I edit my videos etc.)
1 Album release video
2 trailer videos (1 channel trailer and 1 trailer for the final video in the steam punk rifle build)

4 of these videos were collabs One with Chris Cute in the Feature Maker video, and 2 with Glen from DIY Man Glen. The fourth video I had a friend visited who helped me make the utility table.

I was also featured on the Makers International Podcast (though I am not sure why as i am sure there are more interesting people out there than me.)

The biggest project we were able to complete this year was the craft room and Xaria has now fully moved in and making a mess which is great. We even were able to put the small landing and stairs out the the front of it.

On the other hand my favorite build is still my steam punk rifle I don’t know what it is I like about it so much. I think it is because it was free form and just use what I had available and could find. The Gun itself cost about $15 to make. And the carvings oh my the carvings do get me started on the carvings…. lets just say what Glen did for the stock are absolutely stunning. The videos and photo’s don’t really do it any justice.

I tried to post more to other platforms like Instagram and twitter etc but I am not the best on these platforms and it seems people are not as interactive on them… I like things to be interactive in the community so every one is involved. I have started a FaceBook group called Wacky Makers for all makers not just wood workers, from sewing to model making to woodworking and film making stuff… just so we can all interact and bounce ideas of each other, make friends and have fun. Group can be found here.

Work wise has had its ups and downs but that is life in general and been generally busy… Many don’t know that I only do videos over the weekends I rarely do any filming over the week. Which in reality i should, but when I come home from work I making videos is the last thing on my mind.

This all being said I have no idea what projects are coming up in 2018 as I am basically making this up as I go along… I do know we are on a tighter budget as we save some pennies to get the house recladded… that’s all I can say…

So have a happy christmas (or what ever holiday you celebrate this time of year) and have a safe and happy new year and we will see you in 2018.

Kind Regards
Nighthawk

PS. Oh and please don’t be afraid to ask if I will make something for a project or give me ideas for projects… it is a lot harder than you think coming up with ideas.

However don’t make them too complicated of a project as well;

A)- I am not that good of a wood worker and;
B)-
 the channels general target is making simple projects (though we do sometimes break the rule.
