Who are you?
I'm a nobody... or I am simply some one that enjoys good music and writes and produces his own as a hobby. Then has released this music under a creative commons license in early 2016.
Why this name?
Been a nick name since I was young... now more of a spiritual name...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hahaha me offered a label contract... hahaha ... you funny!

.
What software do you use?
Most my music is created in

. There is no sampling and uses various VSTi's and generators to create the noise you hear...
Equipment used:
I don't use a lot of hardware because I can do the same thing with the software, and it is a saving on cost and space. I also play keyboards and have an old Technics KN700 Keyboard, Chrod Midi Controller, Korg ` NanoKontrol 2, Korg Taktile 49 Midi Controller See studio here.
Anything else...?
As of 24th January 2016, I am released my music under the
Warning: Undefined variable $ccl in /var/www/vhosts/wackywoodworks.co.nz/httpdocs/music/faq.php on line 72
. This means you can use in your videos on youtube. All I ask is a return link in the description.
This means many of my older popular tracks are going to be re-uploaded.
Have you or will you release all of your tracks?
Unfortunately no. Some tracks I did with a collab with other artists and I do not own 100% rights to that track and therefore can not realese under a
Warning: Undefined variable $ccl in /var/www/vhosts/wackywoodworks.co.nz/httpdocs/music/faq.php on line 75
. Also tracks I made with sound clips from TV shows and movies to tell a story (The album "Night of the Hawk" is a good example of this) Which means they may get picked up by youtube Contend ID system and cause a strike. I don't want that to happen.
And; finally there are a few tracks that I have given to members of the community to use exclusively whether they won it in a naming competition or I just gave it away etc. This means they have exclusive rights to the track.
Are all your tracks online?
No. This is because some tracks I did as a collab with other musicans and do not own 100% rights to them and therefore can not release them under Creative Commons License. If the collab musican says they are happy to release under
Warning: Undefined variable $ccl in /var/www/vhosts/wackywoodworks.co.nz/httpdocs/music/faq.php on line 79
then that track may get released.
Are all your tracks released under Creative Commons License?
No. As above many tracks were in a collab and therefore can not be released under
Warning: Undefined variable $ccl in /var/www/vhosts/wackywoodworks.co.nz/httpdocs/music/faq.php on line 81
. Also there are a few tracks writen for members of the community where they have been given copyright usage. Becomes their music writen for them.
Why am I doing this?
I have always enjoyed creating whether it be my woodworking or creating music. I will continue to produce music whether I have release it under the
Warning: Undefined variable $ccl in /var/www/vhosts/wackywoodworks.co.nz/httpdocs/music/faq.php on line 83
or not.
My woodworking youtube channel required music to make it a little more fun to watch... (because I am not that great a woodworker either) I have had comments on my music in the past. Other creators that do not have a budget or are not musically minded struggle with getting music on their channel. It is an area where I can help my creator friends.
It will take a while to get this all sorted and I not 100% sure how I am going to do this as of yet. I do not want to use the hosting of the various audio sites as the quality is not as good as it can be, but then on the flip side of that file size and number of downloads if i am hosting myself.
Creative process behind it all
Most of the music I have created has a flowing theme that does not stray to far from this theme especially my later music. This is because I have created it with videos in mind, meaning that the music is not suddenly going to change mid way through and then change back. While this can be pleasing to some it can sometimes disrupt a video.
Does this mean I can use your music on my Youtube Video?
Simple put yes. But we ask that you put a return link in the desription of the video.
How often will you add new songs
There is absolutely no set time table, but songs and tracks are regulary add to the new section. Once I deem enough a new album is created.
How do I use it in my video?
Just list me in the credits anywhere the video can be seen. Specifically, on YouTube, please give attribution in the description box. You're completely safe from Content ID claims as long as you give proper attribution as you're uploading it. In non-YouTube videos, the credits section at the end of the video itself is fine.
What should I put in the attribution?
Here's the format I prefer for attribution:
Music - (song title)” by Nighthawk Music is released under a Creative Commons Attribution License (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)
Artist: Nighthawk http://www.wackywoodworks.co.nz/music/
If you need to tweak the layout to fit the format of other attributed works, that's fine, as long as you keep name, the song title, and website URL.
What about using it in a non-video project?
Some guidelines for attribution in specific cases:
- For advertisements, in-store music or on-hold music, you'll need a traditional license since proper attribution isn't usually possible.
- For movies, TV shows and other films with ending credits, the attribution should be clearly readable at a normal speed in the credits without the need to pause.
- For website background music, the attribution should be by the play/pause/etc controls, or somewhere else which makes sense in your design.
- For video game music, it can either be in the starting credits or the game itself as the music plays. The key is that it must show every session where the music is used (ie, not in the closing credits). Note that "Let's Play"-style videos must give credit as well, to avoid Content ID claims!
- For live streams, the credit must be spoken or shown on-screen as the song is playing.
I can't give attribution. Can I buy a royalty-free license?
If attribution is not practical, I also sell traditional licenses. It's $20 per song, and it gives you eternal rights to use the song royalty-free with no attribution requirement. I also sell a blanket license for $300, which grants a license for all 200+ songs in my catalog.
Will you change your mind about the copyright status and license of your music in the future?
No. If a track is released under the
Warning: Undefined variable $ccl in /var/www/vhosts/wackywoodworks.co.nz/httpdocs/music/faq.php on line 112
then it will stay that way and I can not change that. It is kind of like open source it is realeased under this license and has to stay under this license. You can download and share this music on your own website as long as if it stays under the
Warning: Undefined variable $ccl in /var/www/vhosts/wackywoodworks.co.nz/httpdocs/music/faq.php on line 112
and your give attribute to me for creating it. You are also free to add to it you so wish and release it under
